Christmas is a Holy Christian Sabbath, where we celebrate the fulfilment of the prophecy of the birth of King Jesus.
He was born in a stable due to a housing crisis brought about by a census that forced people to gather in areas of their family origin. Joseph and a heavily pregnant Mary made the journey to Bethlehem.
It’s probably for the best that they were a bit further out due to a bunch of Angles turning up and singing at the triumph birth. Then throw in some shepherds and other folks, and things did indeed get rather busy. Not sure if a normal bed and breakfast accommodation would be able to cope with all of that activity.
The Old Testament prophesied over and over of a coming saviour and King. The Old Testament also says we are to keep the sabbaths of God holy, and the New Testament tells us Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fulfil it (Matthew 5:17).
It was also deemed a sign of Israel that they did not keep the sabbaths, they lost the promised land and went to Babylon. God did indeed keep that sin of not keeping His holy days close to His heart, as the OT says. God viewed it as a breach of their covenant relationship. Exodus 31:13, 35:2, and Numbers 15:32-36 tell us that we are to keep the 10 commandments (regardless of what AI might say).
Bring Your Children Up In The Law
Enjoy the carols and church service. Whatever time you go, have something fun you like to do before or after to make it special. For example, my parents would allow us to open one Christmas present after midnight mass, and other friends of mine would go to McDonald’s.
Every family has their own way of doing things, our faith allows for that. His commandments are not cumbersome.
Merry Christmas in Jesus.
The song below is an inspiration to dedicate our lives to Him.
