The Lord is speaking, and we need to listen. This is our responsibility to know scripture and what is happening on the earth.
Genesis chapter 1 is the history of the creation of the heavens and earth (Genesis 2:4). We see how things are created and their relevance. Genesis 1:11-13 tells us that fruit trees and grass have seeds and reproduce according to their kind.
Well, it’s the same with the moon, the sun, and the stars.
Genesis 1:14-19 elaborates on this. “Then God said,’“Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the eart’”; and it was so Then God made two great]lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day” (NKJV). Here, the purpose of these lights becomes clear in the narrative.JV
Genesis 1:14 shows us how God wants to use the firmament of the heavens. Throughout scripture, He uses these as signs. 2 Kings 20:9-11 and Isaiah 38:7-8, King Hezekiah asks for a sign of his healing, the sun goes back an hour on their sundial, this is a sign and miracle.
The Bible records that the sun stood still and the moon stopped moving until Israel had finished conquering their foes, giving them a full day of light. In Joshua 10:12-14, this is a miracle and a sign given by God in the sky.
Revelation 6:12: “And I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.” Here we see a prophecy of the sun going dark and a blood moon at the end of a great battle. A blood moon does have a few symbolic signs, like possible judgment. It’s important to pray about it, look at what is happening on the earth and see what scripture tells us to do.
If unsure about something, you can cross-reference scripture to get a full picture of how God does it. An easy one is healing. Is our God a God who heals? Jesus did indeed heal people in His ministry, so that tells us yes, He is willing to heal.
Transitioning from cross-referencing scripture to understand God’s actions, let’s now consider the signs in the skies and the moon forecasts for 2026.
- On 3rd January, the Wolf Moon coincides with a meteor shower over the UK. Like beautiful fireworks, these are two signs in the heavens, as the Lord declares His sovereignty over all.
- On 1 February, the Snow Moon will occur.
- 3 March, a Blood Moon appears in the sky, a deep red for about 90 minutes, also called a Worm Moon this year. A worm is never a good thing in scripture.
- On 2 April, the Pink Moon occurs, traditionally representing the beginning of spring. This year, it also marks the beginning of Easter. Both Easter and spring symbolise new life, reminding us of all He has done.
- 1 May a Flower Moon
- 31st May is a Blue Moon, bringing two full moons to May.
- 29 June is a Strawberry Moon, a change-of-season event (according to the Farmers’ Almanac). In the Northern Hemisphere, it is summer, and in the Southern Hemisphere, it is winter. It can mean abundance. School holidays around the globe bring tourism; it is snow season (tourism), along with the Great Barrier Reef, a popular destination for those seeking some warmth (tourism). Traditionally, these shifts can mean abundance, which would be a great prayer request to The Lord. (Matthew 7:7-8)
8. 29th of July is a Buck Moon or a Thunder Moon for a storm. Given that July 4th is a special occasion in the USA, with a lot of “thunderous” fireworks.
9. 28th of August is a full moon representing the end of a season, high summer for much of the northern hemisphere and winter in Australia. It is also the month to celebrate Indigenous Peoples. Which in the UK and Ireland would mean the native white peoples, as in Italy and Greece, their peoples. All people Indigenous to an area mean exactly that.
10. September 26th features a full moon, often called the harvest moon, reflecting the season. September also includes significant Jewish feasts.
11. October 26th is a full moon. This month often marks the start of preparations for the seasons ahead for farmers and retailers.
12. November 24th is a super moon. Leading into a festive season, the moon has been described as a “large, bright full moon.” I will be coming back to moons, seasons and other trivia during the year.
13. December 24th is a super moon. This will be a special event for a few reasons. One is that it appears on Christmas Eve, and another is that it is described as one of the best of the entire 21st century.
In 2026, we will explore how seasons, signs, and related topics are described throughout scripture.
