As a bible study group, we have been watching House of David, the dramatisation of the life of King David.
This gives us a chance to see scripture come to life, get a glimpse of what that time period looked like, the challenges they faced, and to remember they were human, as we are. The common thread is our God. The Father has given us scripture and stories of what came before us for wisdom and our faith.
Last year, we watched season 1. It has been renewed for another season, with season 3 coming later this year or early 2027.
Seasons 1-3 form a trilogy that showcases King David’s youth and his rise to the throne of Israel. His life is complex: he amassed great wealth and power, and his son, King Solomon, inherited the kingdom, which was also visited by the famed Queen of Sheba. The Queen was powerful and wealthy, demonstrating Israel’s international influence.
The books of Samuel 1 and 2 take us through some of the stories for seasons 1-3.
Viewing well-made media like this is an opportunity to enrich Bible study and readings and to enjoy the Bible in depth.
Well produced and acted, great for scholars and those who are a bit of a history buff.
Please enjoy this program at your leisure. There is no pop quiz, just taking in the Word of God visually and with a little drama. If you are unsure about drama, I’m not sure you have read the Bible in its entirety. We are still doing the Read the Bible in a Year, free through Bible Gateway. It takes about 10 minutes.
